Jambu Loco

Throughout the city of Rio, street parades, blocos, and bands are a prominent feature during Carnival, recognized as the most renowned and largest carnival celebration globally, characterized by its vibrant and hedonistic festivities. At any given moment, there may be over 300 bands performing.

The music of Brazil reflects the rich social diversity and cultural amalgamation of its populace. Among this variety, Samba has notably emerged as a quintessential expression of national culture.

This genre, characterized by its eclectic musical and cultural influences, serves as a vibrant representation of Brazil's inherent diversity. Samba is most vividly showcased during the Brazilian Carnival, an event that has captivated audiences worldwide with its lively rhythms, extravagant celebrations, dynamic performances, and lavish displays.

Drawing inspiration from the blocos and bandas that energize the streets and represent the primary popular expression of Brazilian Carnival, Jambu Loco aims to recreate the essence of Rio Carnival through Samba, Samba reggae, Axè, and MPB music. The explosive bateria percussion ensemble propels a groove that is uplifting, high-energy, captivating, and irresistibly engaging.

Adelaide's premier Brazilian Samba percussionists, including Flavio Perez (caixa, triangle & timbal), Arnold Bonilla (repinique, tamborim), and Julio César Angulo (surdo), harmonize seamlessly with vocalists Talita Fontainha and Amanda Alves Gomes, enchanting the audience and transporting them to the heart of Rio Carnival. As Lily Appelt (bass), Adian McDonough (keys), Sam Morris (guitar), and Zac Curtis (alto sax) join in the Samba rhythm, it becomes clear that it is time to celebrate!
